The death of his father and the health scares affecting his mother have forced Prince Charles into taking stock and working on how the monarchy will look when he is king.
He has long made no secret of the fact he wants a slimmed-down royal family, with most of the duties being spread between himself, his siblings Princess Anne and Prince Edward, and his son Prince William. In-laws Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, will also have key roles to play, as will his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
Sources say one change Charles, 73, is determined to introduce is that Camilla will be crowned Queen Consort. When they married in 2005, the palace announced Camilla, 74, would use the title HRH The Princess Consort when Charles acceded the throne, rather than Queen Consort, because of public loyalty to his late first wife, Princess Diana.
