Fun activities to try with the kids this winter break
It’s school holiday time again and with it comes the challenge of keeping kids occupied.
Here are a few suggestions that encourage creativity and may also save everyone’s sanity at the same time!
• MAKE A MOVIE This is an ongoing project that can keep kids of most ages busy on and off throughout the holidays.
Start with getting them to write the script (which can take a fair amount of time), then organise locations, costumes and props before filming starts. Cameras on phones and apps such as iMovie make it much easier to film and edit clips. If you really want to go the whole hog, arrange a movie premiere and get everyone to dress up, then watch the film together.
• WRITE A BOOK
Writing is another creative endeavour that some kids will enjoy, and again, there are some online programmes that help with formatting their words so they can be printed out to look like an actual book.
