Kylie Hall Goes On A Treasure HuntOn The West Coast.

It’s fittingly grey as I arrive in the West Coast town of Greymouth and collect my zippy little rental car. But I’ve heard there are treasures to be discovered in this neck of the woods and the weather won’t stop me from finding them.

Within half an hour, I zero in on my first jewel, The Lifeboat. Perched proudly on the tip of Greymouth’s breakwater, with glistening snow-capped mountains as a backdrop, the vistas surrounding this pretty little vessel are spectacular.

The owner, Richard, serves up delicious stroopwafels – the Netherlands’ favourite cookie. Richard’s partner in sweet crime is Monique, a childhood friend from the Netherlands who joined him in business and life a couple of years ago. A sweet story, but not as sweet as their signature syrupy morsels.

Chock-full of sugar and love stories, I meander out to On Yer Bike Adventures. With a glacial landscape as my playground, I’m excited as I jump into my sturdy wee buggy.
