Unlike in fairytales, it’s rare for people to get married and simply live happily ever after. Marriage takes work, and a relationship can easily disintegrate if you haven’t put the effort into strengthening it.
Here are ways to build a strong marriage.
COMMUNICATION IS KEY
How often do you actually talk to each other? That means more than a discussion about what’s for dinner or even a cursory, “How was your day?” When you lead a busy life and you’re tied up with what your kids are doing or distracted by your phone and Netflix, proper conversations with your partner can become non-existent.
Communicating about your feelings, frustrations, hopes and dreams is an important way to foster intimacy and build understanding. It’s also crucial that you encourage your partner to open up, and listen to what they have to say.
Try to set aside 30 minutes a day or a catch up once a week to talk without interruptions.
