It was a brave and surprisingly frank Prince Harry who this month shared some startling insights into his life as a member of the British royal family.
During a 96-minute exposé with podcaster Dax Shepard, the soon-to-be father-of-two talked openly about everything from the “genetic pain” handed down to him by his parents and grandparents to how he felt like he was the living in The Truman Show.
Following his podcast appearance, the prince then took part in an equally-as candid TV series on mental health with Oprah Winfrey called The Me You Can’t See, talking publicly about his mental health struggles.
But while he feels as if a weight has lifted off his shoulders since fleeing for a new life in the US last year, Harry’s shocking new revelations have caused an uproar back home in the UK.
Viewing his controversial outpourings as Harry taking yet another wrecking ball to the royal institution – hot on the heels of his explosive tell-all with Oprah in March – palace aides have privately called for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to give up their titles.
Senior courtiers are said to be incensed at Harry’s “brutal” criticism, with one reported as saying, “People are appalled that he could do this to the Queen when the Duke of Edinburgh is barely in his grave.”
In his guest turn on podcast Armchair Expert, Harry – dad to two-year-old son Archie – revealed he quit as a royal to save his children from inherited family suffering.
