In the Name of Archie: We Peek Inside His Exclusive Ceremony
After two months of blissful cocooning with his adoring parents, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was proudly presented to the world last week.
But while the gorgeous wee tot – first-born child of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex – was christened in the private chapel in Windsor Castle with all the trimmings of a royal occasion, the fanfare was surprisingly muted.
Instead of a large guest list bursting with royal A-listers and a bustling press-photo call, just 25 close family and friends were invited to the private ceremony, and two photographs were later released to mark the occasion.
Harry (34) and Meghan (37) also chose not to reveal the names of their son’s godparents, but as the new parents posed for a series of family photos in the castle’s Green Drawing Room, their joy was plain to see.
Meghan, dressed in bespoke Dior, glowed as baby Archie – with what looked like the first tufts of his father’s carrot-top mop – contentedly gurgled in her arms, and Harry, sporting a neatly trimmed beard, beamed with delight.
For the official snap, the happy family is surrounded by Prince Charles (70), Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall (71), Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland (62), Prince William (37), Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (37), and – in honour of Harry’s late mother – Princess Diana’s sisters Lady Jane Fellowes (62) and Lady Sarah McCorquodale (64).
In their second photo, taken in the castle’s Rose Garden just moments after the religious ceremony, Meghan tenderly rests her chin on Archie’s forehead while Harry gazes adoringly at his precious son.
