Kristen's haunted movie ‘I FELT DIANA'S SPIRIT'

It’s a big ask for any actress, portraying one of the most famous women who has ever lived. And for an American best known for playing a girl torn between a vampire and a werewolf, stepping into Princess Diana’s shoes on the big screen was a monumental challenge.

But Kristen Stewart was up for the task and her performance as the late princess in the new movie Spencer is winning her rave reviews.

The Twilight star – who asked director Pablo Larraín, “Are you sure?” when he cast her – says she agreed to take on the role because she didn’t want to be a coward. And although there were times when she wondered if she would be able to do justice to such an iconic figure, she also felt as if she had approval of sorts from the royal, who died 24 years ago.

“I felt some spooky, spiritual feelings making this movie,” explains Kristen, 31. “There were moments where I kind of got the sign-off, where I was like, ‘Oh, God,’ almost like she was trying to breakthrough. It was weird and amazing. I’ve never felt anything like it in my life. I’m not a weird, witchy spiritualist, but I felt her.”

She noticed she was more likely to feel the presence of the woman she was portraying when it hit her hard that Diana had died.
