Their Big Little Love Story Saved Them Both
Nicole Kidman vividly remembers the moment she knew Keith Urban was the one for her.
After a whirlwind six months of dating, Nicole awoke at 5 am on her birthday to find Keith on her doorstep in New York, clutching a bunch of gardenias and beaming.
“That is when I went, ‘This is the man I hope to get to marry!’” she recalls fondly. “It was pretty intense. I believed by that point he was the love of my life.
“Maybe that’s because I’m deeply romantic, or I’m an actress, or I have a strong faith as well, but I just believed, ‘Oh, okay, here he is.’”
Fourteen years on, Nicole and Keith’s megawatt love story is Hollywood and Nashville legend, and two kids later, the pair grow more devoted to each other every day.
From their touching public displays of affection on red carpets to their sweet social media posts and gushing interviews, their relationship is lauded as one of Tinseltown’s success stories. And as they celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary – an age in Hollywood years – and Nicole (52) basks in the triumph of the acclaimed second season of Big Little Lies, it’s hard to imagine life getting any better.
“Thirteen years of magic, music, romance, wild adventures and the ongoing discovery of pure love,” Keith (51) wrote on Instagram, paying tribute to his wife, with whom he shares daughters Sunday Rose (10) and Faith Margaret (8).
