Scarlett Johansson has been voted Sexiest Woman Alive… twice! Now the soon-to-be mum-of-two is finding joy in not being celebrated as a sex symbol.
The Oscar-nominated actress, currently starring in the movie Black Widow, has confessed that playing the Marvel Universe character Natasha Romanov has been one of her most empowering roles ever.
Instead of trading on her looks, Black Widow Natasha is a martial arts expert, a merciless fighter and a super-sleuthing spy – something Scarlett hopes will inspire all women, including her daughter Rose.
“It’s so, so different than when I was growing up,” shares Scarlett. “There really weren’t any superheroines in this genre to point to and it’s just amazing.”
In addition to six-year-old Rose, who she shares with her second husband Romain Dauriac, Scarlett has another reason to want to change the world, one movie at a time.
It was recently revealed the Lost in Translation star, 36, and her third husband, comedian Colin Jost, 39, are expecting their first baby together.
Friends say the super-private actress is “thrilled” to be adding to her brood and Scarlett makes no secret of her desire for women to be seen as more than mere eye candy.
