WESTSIDE ACTOR TODD EMERSON GETS OFF THE BEATEN PATH IN AN EXOTIC LOCALE
The Yucatán Peninsula juts out from the south eastern part of Mexico, separating the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. It’s well known for its packed tourist beach spots such as Cancun and Tulum, but on our trip around this beautiful peninsula, my husband and I found much more than we expected away from the crowds and nightlife.
Driving down the coast is a simple affair – it was easy to hire a car and there’s only one road heading south from the airport. It passes through many small towns, so be sure to stop by any roadside stalls for fresh mango.
Our destination for the night was Tulum, a smaller yet just-as-busy holiday destination. Very soon we found ourselves on a white-sand beach presided over by the huge Mayan ruin El Castillo, swimming under a full moon and feeling pretty content with our life decisions.
