The Singing Sensation Is Coming Home – But Not for Long
Despite his professional success in Britain and the United States, there was only one place singer Will Martin wanted to launch his third album – New Zealand.
Home has been on Will’s mind a lot lately. He and his partner of eight years, Melissa Brinsden (30), are currently living in Orange County, California and although he has an extensive tour of the US booked for the beginning of 2020, they’d love to move back Down Under.
“I have this wonderful career overseas, which I’m really grateful for,” says Will (34). “But there’s this constant feeling of wanting to be home. What I’d really like is to move back. I’d love to buy a house and a have a barbecue. The thing is, I probably wouldn’t be able to pay the bills as a singer in this country. We’re just trying to work it all out.”
The couple are doing the next best thing to relocating – spending as much time in New Zealand as they can. For the first time since he left in 2005 to pursue his career, Will is basing himself in Auckland for most of the winter, plus they enjoyed a month here while promoting his latest work By Request.
The album was a labour of love for the Kiwi crooner, who made his name as the youngest man to top the UK classical charts with his debut album A New World. An unapologetic perfectionist, he has worked tirelessly on it for the last two years.
