ABOUT ME I’m Rhiannon Southwell, a textile designer and founder of Blossom and Brush, and I live here with my husband, Patrick, a PR managing partner, and our sons, Macsen, eleven, and Dylan, nine.
OUR HOME A four-bedroom Victorian terraced house in Bristol. We moved here in August 2013.
WHEN WE MOVED IN There was more to do than we’d bargained for. The back of the house needed a new roof and we wanted to restore the sash windows.
AND NOW We got started on the essentials straight away, then waited until we could afford to pull out the drab, dated kitchen. Now, we’ve got a home that will last.
STYLE TIP If something I want is not in the shops, I’ll make it myself. I also love looking in flea markets.
This house was probably the thirtieth property we looked at back in 2013. We blitzed viewings during a series of day trips from my in-laws’ home in Frome, Somerset. We were ready to relocate from London and chose Bristol for a better quality of life.
However, after a lot of disappointments, we had almost given up hope of ever finding somewhere we liked. Then, this house turned up. I cried when I walked inside. I was so relieved! The front room had a gorgeous south-facing bay window and it was so light and warm that day. It just felt really homely and right for us. We put in an offer straight away.
