My new year resolutions -and their habitual failure—are quite predictable. (The 21-day flat-belly challenge should never have tried to make time with my midsection, which is way out of its league. The 210-day challenge, on the other hand, might actually have gotten to first base.) Maybe you’re the same, maybe you’re not. But guess who definitely isn’t? Sonam Kapoor.
Sonam Kapoor has thought long and hard about her resolutions for 2016. Since she doesn’t need to rein in any belly jelly, a frenzy of planks and crunches is probably not high on her priority list. She has, however, revealed in an interview with Vogue in January what self-improvement endeavour will take precedence over all others: “Being a better BFF.”
“Whaaa?” you might go, before concluding that celebrities, they’re nothing like us. But on second thought, Kapoor’s entirely genuine and irony free resolution is not so extraordinary. We live in a time when female friendships are in focus more than ever before. Friendship has overtaken romantic love as the relationship of our times. And pop culture is constantly giving us references to model our friendships on, or at the very least, lust after.
