It’s hard to believe that a whole year has passed since Ruth Langsford shared that heartbreaking video of herself waving and blowing a kiss to her 88-year-old mum, Joan, through the window of her care home, as she told her, ‘We miss you.’ But, 12 months down the line, the 60-year-old TV presenter is just one of many people who will finally be able to hold hands with their mum for the first time in a year this week, albeit wearing PPE, thanks to the Government allowing care home residents to have one regular visitor.
Joan’s care home has been in lockdown since March last year and, if Ruth has wanted to see her mum, there have been very strict measures in place.
‘I have a pre-booked visit once a week, we have a Perspex screen between us and I have to wear a mask, gloves and an apron,’ Ruth previously explained.
