Prue Almond traded in her busy city life for a place in the sun
Opening the bedroom shutters, the Italian sunshine and warm breeze hits my face. Out of the window I can see fields stretching for miles and hear the chirping of birds. It’s the picture of tranquillity and, ever since moving here four years ago, I can’t imagine calling any other place my home.
I moved to London from Broadstairs in my 20s to work as a live music producer. I was responsible for booking world tours for some of the biggest names in pop, including Diana Ross, Bob Dylan and Jamiroquai.
My schedule was busy, but I enjoyed the fast pace. In 2002, I met Dan, then 35, a TV producer. We married in 2007 and as Dan had two boys from a previous relationship, we decided not to have any children of our own.
Over the years we both worked hard, rarely having time for holidays. But, as a treat for my 50th birthday in May 2014, Dan and I went on a horse riding retreat in Spain.
