Fern Britton has recently described the dramatic scenes when husband Phil Vickery begged staff at her local GP surgery to call an ambulance while she was doubled up in pain following an operation.
Fern developed sepsis four days after undergoing a routine hysterectomy operation last July. But, when she began having intense discomfort in her abdomen, worried Phil rang 999.
