The women making thousands from their BODIES

We investigate how online platform OnlyFans is helping women all over the world earn a fortune. But would you do it?
The women making thousands from their BODIES

As the pandemic wreaks havoc on the global economy, an increasing number of women are turning to online platform OnlyFans to earn a living. The website, which launched in 2016, has attracted more than 100 million global users and allows fans to subscribe to the profile of content creators and access exclusive, otherwise private, posts.

The content, typically, tends to be of a sexual nature – and the amount earned is calculated by how many ‘likes’ a profile has. Women from all walks of life – and all over the world – have been getting involved, with even some celebrities joining the OnlyFans content creator list.

By December last year, the British website is said to have lined up more than one million creators – up by around 880,000 since the start of the pandemic.

As lockdowns closed many industries around the world, including the lucrative sex industry, the website has offered a new opportunity for women to earn a living – by sharing images of their bodies on their terms and for a price they choose.

Kerry Katona is one of the famous British faces who has joined the platform and has already attracted 170,000 likes on her profile. The 40-year-old, who signed up in May 2020, is estimated to be earning up to £250,000 per month through the website

The concept is proving popular with those who may have previously accepted work on magazine cover shoots but have been left without that income after the pandemic put shoots on hold.
