Jane McDonald is notorious for her fierce independence and ‘go get it’ attitude to work.
The Wakefield-born star spends six months cruising each year, and tours the UK tirelessly to perform for her army of loyal fans – saying it’s the ‘best job in the world’.
And while her 12-year relationship with teenage sweetheart Eddie Rothe appears on the surface to be going without a hitch, Jane’s recent announcement that Eddie will be joining her on the high seas later this year – a place she’s previously described as setting her ‘free’ – could spell disaster. After all, Jane once said that her second marriage to Henrik Brixen broke down because the lines between her work and personal life became blurred…
HER OWN PERSON
Since splitting from husband and then manager Henrik in 2002, Jane, 56, has always seemed adamant about keeping her home and work life separate. Which could be why, despite her working away for up to six months of the year, historically Eddie has never joined her.
The singing sensation has made no secret of the fact that her relationship with Henrik ended because – as her manager and her husband – he was too involved in every aspect of her life.
Which left her feeling ‘gullible’ and ‘clueless’ in their relationship.
