What to grow NOW!

Raspberry ‘Yummy’

Everyone’s favourite soft fruit are easy and quick to harvest from patio pots. Compact at just 45cm tall, the new variety named ‘Yummy’ produces fruit without any special pruning. What’s more, thornless plants give a heavy crop in the first year. Water regularly. From nurseries such as suttons.co.uk.

Spuds for Christmas

One of the easiest crops for a small garden or balcony is the humble spud. Seed potatoes such as ‘Nicola’ or ‘Gemson’ are available in July/early August to plant immediately in the ground or in sacks. When frosts threaten the crop, cover with fleece or take containers undercover on cold nights. Cropping starts in autumn and don’t forget to leave a few to enjoy on Christmas Day! Available from place such as suttons.co.uk and marshalls-seeds.co.uk.

It’s blueberry season!
