Use an Ofgem-accredited price comparison site like Uswitch.com to see if you can cut bills by switching. Have recent bills to hand so you’ll know your tariff’s name and how much energy you use each year.

Switching is easy and if you’ve never done it you could save serious cash. However, if you’re on a fixed-term deal, always check if you’ll need to pay an exit fee if you leave early.
