Are pet names more sickly than sweet?

With a whopping 70% of women admitting they feel ‘ick’ when their partner uses a term of endearment, * we ask…
EMMIE HARRISON-WEST, CHER WHELAN
Are pet names more sickly than sweet?

No - ‘They’re like our very own secret language’

Emmie Harrison-West, Woman’s Own Content Commissioner, lives in London with husband Jethro. ‘Boo!’ I shouted down the hallway. ‘Yes, Squeeze?’ came a reply. ‘Do you want a coffee?’ No, this wasn’t some kind of weird, prolonged Halloween celebration, ‘Boo’ is one of the many pet names I have for my husband.

Boo, Squeeze, Sweet, Skoo, Bee, Beeb and my favourites, Bishwari Naan and Beebus Maximus. Don’t ask, as I don’t have a clue where any of them came from!

My husband, Jethro, and I have always had pet names in our six-year relationship. In fact, the only time we use each other’s names is when we’re angry at each other (which, thankfully, isn’t often!).
