Until the government allows GPs to open fully, we’re facing a worse crisis

Serious question. When was the last time you actually managed to see your GP? According to our prime minister, the NHS is ‘open for business’, but his words have a very hollow ring for millions of us. My local surgery is like Fort Knox. There are huge ‘STOP’ signs on the door, chairs piled high as barricades and a secret entry code. I literally lose the will – a very apt and dangerous phrase – to even try to go in.

On government orders, our GP surgeries shut back in March. The unknown that was COVID-19 made it sensible to protect our amazing healthcare workers, among many other reasons.
