Jess Logan, 27, lives in Tamworth with her husband Dale, 31. Pulling on my jeans, I grab a T-shirt and throw it on, but not before taking a long, hard look at my reflection. I remember when, not so long ago, I’d barely been able to glance at myself in the mirror, horrified by an unsightly black pouch attached to my tummy: a stoma bag, used to collect waste because my body couldn’t manage it.

It was April 2017, when I was 25, that I first spotted blood in the loo, and as I awaited tests, more symptoms developed. I was in agony, rushing to the toilet up to 30 times a day, and even had accidents.
