As a journalist who’s worked in front of the camera for more than three decades, it’s perhaps fair to say that Richard Madeley is used to receiving his share of criticism.
Richard, 65, is currently filling in on Good Morning Britain following Piers Morgan’s walkout in March. And, just like Piers, 56, he isn’t afraid to ruffle feathers when interviewing on the ITV show.
But again, just like Piers, he has divided viewers, and if comments on social media are anything to go by, Richard is not a favourite.
Now, with producers at GMB still looking for that winning presenting formula, will his fiery debates mean they look elsewhere for a permanent replacement for Piers?
Turned off
One of Richard’s recent arguments on the morning programme was with a member of Insulate Britain – the campaigning group responsible for causing huge delays on the M25 with their protests. The heated discussion saw the protester storming off the show, and viewers later took to social media to discuss Richard’s handling of the segment.
One wrote, ‘Richard Madeley’s performance when dealing with the climate-change activist this morning and on the previous occasion on the show were disgraceful. He should be sacked immediately.’
