‘Some began to take advantage’

Rebecca Daniel, 33, is a transformation coach and founder of thejigsaw company.com. She lives in Dartford with her partner and their daughter, three.

For years, if a friend came to me for money I didn’t mind bailing them out. I was fortunate to have the means to help, but some began to take advantage.

One ‘friend’ asked me for a large loan and begged me to keep it quiet. Unbeknown to me, they’d asked someone else to do exactly the same.

The truth came out after they posted their spending spree all over social media. Furious, I removed that person from my life. I then reflected on all the times I’d lent money before.
