Buxton Crescent, Derbyshire
High up on the edge of The Peak District National Park, Buxton is a gateway to this area of outstanding natural beauty, contrasting rolling farmland, forests and deep valleys with high stony plateaus. The Buxton Crescent spa hotel is the first UK property from Ensana Hotels, which oversees a collection of European thermal spas using natural resources. The 19th century was a golden age for Buxton, when high society came to ‘take the waters’; today you can experience the therapeutic properties of its mineral-rich waters for yourself. There are three pools, while the eight spa rooms offer indulgent signature treatments such as the thermal mud pack, which uses mineral mud sourced from Heviz in Hungary, and the CO2 infusion mineral bath. The renovated hotel has kept many original details, such as chandeliers, painted ceilings and stained-glass windows.
