It’s a funny old world
When I got married, a friend gave me a little plaque that says, ‘We interrupt this marriage to bring you the football season.’ That just about sums up what it’s like in my house.
In all my dreams over the years of a fairy-tale wedding, I never imagined Liverpool FC playing a part. But it did when I promised my new husband to support him at all times, even if Liverpool lost. It caused a lot of mirth at the big event in 2013 in the south of France. I was 57 at the time, with a pretty chequered history of dating the wrong men behind me. The right one turned out to be James Garrett, TV producer (same age as me) and diehard Liverpool fan. We had a lot of fun with our vows, but they were romantic, too, and the setting at the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild on Cap Ferrat was simply heavenly.
