When you’re younger, the idea of retirement can hold a certain allure. You picture more sleep-ins and long lunches with friends, and no more nagging bosses. Happiness seems inevitable.
Yet, as the years pass, many people find transitioning into retirement a challenge. In fact, 91 per cent of Australians aged 40-plus have concerns about their approaching retirement. But according to the Australian Seniors’ 100 Year Lifespan report, there’s plenty to look forward to during our “third act” of life.
“More than three in four Australians surveyed see this phase as the beginning of something rather than the ending of something,” it reads. “It’s our chance to travel more, explore, pursue new passions or even graduate university.”
