It has been three years since his son Samuel lost his battle with brain cancer, and Red Symons has dealt with much of his grief behind closed doors.
Now Red has spoken out about the lingering effects of loss on a new podcast, Baby Boomers’ Guide To Life In The 21st Century. The musician and Hey Hey It’s Saturday favourite spoke to hosts Patricia “Little Pattie” Amphlett and Lex Marinos and was candid when Lex asked him how he’s coping now, three years after losing Sam, who was just 27.
“Well, simply put, you don’t get over it. You take it on board. It becomes part of your view of the world,” the 72-year-old said of his son, who was first diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of four.
Red told how he’d visited Samuel’s grave in June, in celebration of what would have been his birthday.
