With the Duchess of Sussex making her first return to the UK and Buckingham Palace after her three-month hiatus in Canada this week, no one expected it to be anything less than extremely awkward.
But staff are gearing up for one of the most explosive weeks they’ve seen at the palace in years, with speculation rife that a feisty Meghan is preparing to take her frustrations out on everyone from the Queen and the Duchess of Cambridge through to Princess Beatrice.
According to one royal insider, the Queen – despairing over the state of her fractured family since Meghan and Harry announced they were cutting ties with the royals and moving away from London – has invited all the key players to Buckingham Palace on Harry and Meghan’s return for their final public appearances.
