The actor is feeling better than ever
In May 2017, eight months after his longtime partner Angelina Jolie filed for divorce, Brad Pitt was down and out. Holed up in the LA home he’d once shared with his wife and their six children, the A-list Hollywood hunk completely retreated from the spotlight.
As he desperately tried to pick up the pieces of his life, the actor, 55, revealed that he’d started therapy and sobered up – and admitted that his issues with alcohol had led to the deterioration of his marriage.
“I was boozing too much,” he divulged. “[It had] just become a problem ... [and I didn’t] want to live that way anymore.”
Two years later, things have changed dramatically. “Brad’s doing really well,” a source tells Woman’s Day about the star – who shares Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and 10-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne with Angelina.
Following a brutal custody battle between the warring exes, Brad now “spends time with his kids several times a week”, says the insider.
That in itself put some pep back into Brad’s step, but now the Hollywood heavyweight is also succeeding where he’s most comfortable – on film.
His highly anticipated new movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which is directed by Quentin Tarantino and co-stars Leonardo DiCaprio, debuted at the Cannes Film Festival on May 21 to wide acclaim.
“He’s really excited about it,” says the source. And his personal life is looking up too. “He’s not only looking fantastically handsome again, but he’s been more social since his divorce. He’s happy with where things are.”
