The Cappello family has been merrily growing Christmas trees for 20 years

For most of us, the festive season comes just once a year. But not for the Cappello brothers and their families – they’re surrounded by holiday vibes every day on their very own Christmas tree farm.

Walking through the property, the ground is thick with pine needles and the seasonal scent hangs in the air. Brothers Will, 57, and John, 48, work 364 days a year in their very own “winter wonderland backyard” to ensure their customers have a perfect tree to decorate every December.

“We only start harvesting in November, but it can take four or five years to grow a tree,” says Will, who has been growing radiata pine trees for two decades. “They’re like children – you nurture them, take good care of them and watch them grow.”

LITTLE HELPERS

Chuckling, he adds, “When people arrive, they comment on the beautiful smell, but because we’re surrounded by the trees all year, we can’t smell anything!”

The family has 15,000 trees, with a few thousand cut and sold each year by Will, John and their special little helpers.
