When reality star Rose Cruickshank met her new man on Tinder last year, there were two things she warned him – firstly, that she’d been on Married At First Sight NZ less than a year earlier and, secondly, that she’d been married three times.
Now based in Emerald Beach, Australia, the qualified lash technician – whose one-year marriage to Sensing Murder psychic Kelvin Cruickshank ended in 2019 – tells Woman’s Day, “I told Tony on our first date, ‘If you don’t like it, you can walk away.’ But he said, ‘I’m 50 and you’re 46, so I’d find it more strange if you didn’t have a past,’ and so we continued our walk along the beach and watched the sunset, saying how much we had in common.”
Rose’s architect crush was born and bred in the New South Wales town. “We went back to his house and just chatted until the early hours of the morning,” she beams. “We were in our own little bubble. For the first month we dated, we never even turned on any music or the TV – we just sat and talked for hours.”
At one point, the lovebirds googled Rose’s name so Tony could get a glimpse of her MAFS hubby Christopher Wilson, 56, from the Three show.
“Tony was in agreement he’d never match me with Chris,” laughs Rose, who’s mum to girls Simone, 22, Paris, 21, and Sophie, 15. “This time, I’m not going to rush anything and I’ll be very careful. But I’m happy and believe the universe used all these stepping stones to get me to where I need to be, to meet Tony.”
