When this mum saw her special children for the first time, she got a surprise

Judith Nwokocha and her husband Femi were over the moon when they found out she was pregnant after a heartbreaking eight-year fertility battle. The couple were even more thrilled when Judith discovered she was carrying twins.

“I remember being told the IVF had worked and that I was finally having a baby,” the 38-year-old from Calgary, Canada, tells Woman’s Day. “The doctors didn’t know at the time, but I immediately knew I was having twins – something inside me just knew, like my motherly instincts had kicked in.”

It was at Judith’s second scan that doctors confirmed she was having two babies, but their joy was overshadowed with the news there were concerns one of the twins could have Down syndrome.

“At seven weeks, Kachi was behind, meaning she was very small compared to her brother and had stopped growing,” tells her mum.

“The doctors told me she might not make it and my heart hit the floor. I’m just so glad it didn’t happen. I’m not sure what I’d have done if one of the twins hadn’t pulled through.”
