His angel ex comes to the rescue again
It’s been more than two years since Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner called it quits on their A-list marriage. Two years since their vows “in sickness and in health” went out the window.
But despite all the hurt Jennifer has endured – from Ben’s gambling and alcohol addictions to his alleged relationship with the children’s nanny – she is still the first person he turns to when he needs help.
Woman’s Day can reveal that just days after Ben celebrated his new TV producer girlfriend Lindsay Shookus’ win at the Emmy Awards in September, the Argo star realised he was once again losing his grip on his alcohol addiction.
“He knew he was spiralling,” tells a source close to the Oscar winner. But instead of surrendering to it, the two-time rehab veteran turned to the one person who has always been there for him – Jennifer. “Ben told her everything. He was devastated, but he knew he had to change.”
Soon after, Jennifer found her estranged husband help at yet another rehab facility in Los Angeles. Our source explains, “After everything they’ve been through, she is going to continue to be there for him – no matter what.”
Despite the fact it was Ben’s vices that torpedoed their 10-year-marriage, putting their three children, Violet, 11, Seraphina, eight, and Samuel, five, through the pain of a divorce, the 45-year-old actress has cemented herself as the rock in Ben’s life.
