The actress’ happiness is blighted by backstabbing
It was a festive fairytale moment as Meghan Markle joined her fiancé Prince Harry for her first royal Christmas, stepping out with the wrapped-up Windsors for the annual church service at Sandringham in her winter finery.
Arriving alongside Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, the former Suits actress later performed a curtsey for the Queen at the steps of St Mary Magdalene Church in an unprecedented display that proved she’s already considered part of the family.
However, while it might have looked like Meghan, 36, has been wholly accepted into “The Firm”, there’s a battle brewing behind the scenes with Harry’s cousins Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie refusing to extend a warm welcome.
Palace insiders have revealed to Woman’s Day that the two sisters, daughters of Prince Andrew and the Duchess of York, are seething that their grandmother has been so accepting of Harry’s relationship.
“Beatrice and Eugenie are known for being terribly snobby, and they’re also very spoilt by their father, who constantly complains to the Queen that his daughters have been pushed to the side to make room for Charles, his sons and now their partners,” claims one royal insider.
“Now they’re taking their frustrations out on Meghan. They didn’t like Kate because they saw her as common, but that’s nothing compared to how horrified they are at Harry marrying an American actress! They’re sniping that their grandmother is letting the family go downhill by allowing this.”
Beatrice, 29, and Eugenie, 27, reportedly went out of their way to give Meghan an “extremely unwelcome reception” at the royal Christmas celebrations, according to a palace source.
