Moving towards intricacy.
In 2016, the fashion industry dipped into three decades for explicit inspiration — the ’70s, ’80s, and ‘90s, where roller-disco bohemian, Dynasty opulence, and skater grunge filled the racks of every single store. There was also a more non-gendered clothing, and more statement pieces for women in expanded sizes and ages.
The '80s Will Be The Biggest Trend of 2017. Designers feel that the 1980s will be huge — everything from power suits and slouchy tailored trousers for office wear, through to off-the-shoulder looks, active-wear and ruffles. The trends that have seen the most year-over-year pinning growth over the past year and that seem primed to peak in 2017. Belle sleeve top silhouette will take over the off-the-shoulder look, an even more heated interest in flair.
While pattern-mixing is starting to hit its stride for mainstream consumers, fashion trend forecasting for 2017 will see trendsetters embracing more monochromatic ensembles with small splashes of bright colour for accent. Satin will be important, velvet should make a good showing, and embroidered knits will be everything. Designers are drawning towards intricacy.
Different cuts and style
While the sheer trend has been around for a while now, sheer skirts are the new ‘it’ piece of clothing. Sheer ensembles have been around for a while now, however bringing them into Indian outfits is relatively new. Also, having a net over-coat on the skirt of lehenga, with the net being sequinced or worked on is a trend we love too. Sheer duppatas will also make their debut in this year.
From off-shoulder to one-shoulder, this trend is here to stay and is going nowhere in the coming year. Comfort dressing is what ruled at runway shows. Be it pajama pants, or the new bath robe trend, comfort is what 2017 is going to be all about.
