The tragic death of Sushant Singh Rajput hasn’t just left the nation speechless but also given birth to several questions. As the sad saga continues and new twists emerge at every turn, the industry is divided into two. On one side, there are the star kids and the Bollywood biggies who have been living up to the legacy passed onto them by their father, mothers, and ancestors. On the other, there are those who have risen from the ground without any support system.
Sushant Singh Rajput was one of the most shining gems in the latter category. An engineering drop-out who performed as a background dancer at IIFA, worked hard to one day perform as a lead on the same stage. While his fame is long-lasting, his life was short-lived. The actor hanged himself in his Bandra flat on the dreadful afternoon of June 14th. His body hadn’t even been taken to the hospital and a debate ensued in the entire industry.
Name-calling and shut-slamming the products of nepotism became a norm as no one was ready to believe it as a suicide. Either it was a murder or an abatement to suicide by the pressure put on the star. While it’s been over a month, neither has the nation been able to come to terms with the passing away of Sushant nor has it let the debate of nepotism killing talent die.
REMEMBER PRACHI DESAI, THE GIRL WHO MADE HER NAME IN TV INDUSTRY AND WENT ON TO WORK IN MOVIES LIKE ROCK ON, ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAI, AND BOLBACHCHAN? SHE BELIEVES THAT MANY OF HER PROJECTS WERE SNATCHED AWAY FROM HER BECAUSE OF NEPOTISM.
