Linda ‘OCD took over my life’

Linda Robson made a welcome return to Loose Women last month to bravely open up about her recent mental health battle. The 61-yearold broke down in tears as she recalled the moment in 2018 when she was forced to seek treatment for severe obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). ‘At one point, I was having four baths a day, I was washing my bedding every day…’ she revealed. ‘People joke when they hear someone saying about OCD – they think it’s a bit of a joke or whatever, but it took over my life.’

The situation got worse when a bad reaction to her sleep medication caused what Linda described as a ‘meltdown’.

‘The medication was making me hyper, instead of it calming me down. Then I started drinking again, and not wine, I was drinking anything just to blackout because I just didn’t want to be to facing the day.’

At one point things got to bad that Linda’s neighbors called the police, ‘Because I was drinking, they [the family] were locking me in, so I couldn’t get out and then I was shouting through the door, “Someone let me out!” And then the police were called because they thought I’d been kidnapped.’ Thankfully Linda feels her condition is under control thanks to the right treatment and support from her family and Loose Women co-stars.
