It is a sight to behold! You would rub your eyes just to make sure you’re not seeing double, triple, quadruple, and more. Seven dogs in one frame, all nearly a clone of the other, and their mum sitting content, as any mum with all her children around her would be. For the Bollywood actress, this is her greatest role.
You would wonder where the one dog that stood out from the lot is in the count of seven. Wouldn’t that make it eight? Fudge the Pug gave Sheeba and her husband Akashdeep Sabir, 17 of the best years of their life before he left for the Rainbow Bridge last year. He, too, was a rescue, just like Sparkle and Shine were, we learn. Rescuing and rehoming dogs is Sheeba’s honorary task on this planet, one that she has been persevering at, and loving with all her heart, since she learnt to talk, she says with a smile.
“Mum and dad encouraged the love of pets in me. So, you can understand when I say it’s my pet peeve, literally, when people get dogs just to get rid of them when they cannot manage for whatever reason. Do not treat pets as things. They cannot be thrown away. Make sure you are with them till their last breath. Else, do not get a dog!” Truer words were never spoken.
She has always been a determined, vociferous and dedicated woman who managed hearth and work to the best of her abilities, always surrounded by dogs and her two boys, Hriday and Bhavishya. Everybody in her life, starting from her parents to her husband − who is as crazy as she is about their pets − to her kids, and the staff at home, all have been inherent animal lovers and that’s the ticket you hold to get ease of access to Sheeba Akashdeep’s life of love.
