It is a known fact that what one may lack in, one can make up for in another. This commonly pertains to our gift of senses – when you lose sight, for instance, your sense of hearing is heightened. So it is with the mole, the tiny, rat-like mammal with poor eyesight but acute sense of touch and clawed digits that help them create channels through the soil to get to where they desire. Just like the mole we know from espionage jargon, who uses his expertise to lay low and get the job done.
The most fascinating thing about these pint-sized creatures is their lack of external ears and eyes that lie hidden beneath their velvety fur that stands upright. This is so that the soil does not remain on their body or stick to their fur. The reason for their ears being hidden is so that dirt does not fill into them as they dig their way around. God and his endless marvels! Sure, the mole is no Golden Retriever where looks are concerned short and stocky with a cylindrical body and a little tail that follows, and a pig-like snout - but it is a marvel nonetheless for its tunnelling prowess and its speed. Did you know the mole can burrow a tunnel that's a 160 ft. in just one night. And come out unscathed!
