Exploring Architectural Visions

Architect Prasanna Parvatikar from Tirupur reveals his architectural journey, design philosophies, and innovative approaches that shape the unique character of his projects.
Exploring Architectural Visions

“Each project is a challenge that allows us to explore new dimensions in space,” says Ar. Prasanna Parvathikar, the Principal Architect of Cubism, a design firm that drives a contextual approach to design to produce unique and immersive experiences through Architecture and Interior Design. With a portfolio that includes a wide range of building typologies, including hotels and resorts, restaurants, corporate offices, schools, holiday homes and private residential projects, the firm, spearheaded by Architect Parvathikar and his partner Roopashree, is focused on building identities and architectural narratives appropriate to the context and aspirations of each project. Informed by tradition, enriched by materiality and inspired by contemporary life, they believe in creating crafted designs.

“My approach is to develop my interpretation of the project, understanding the site context to guide the creation of unique designs throughout the entire process,” he smiles as Sumisha Gilotra, Editor, of Architect and Interiors India, quizzes him about how he manages to distinguish himself in the industry full of talented people.

Read on for an insight into the mind of this creative and talented architect.

Sumisha Gilotra: The biggest challenge architects face these days is to balance aesthetics and functionality in their designs. How do you strike this balance?

Prasanna Parvathikar: Designs are visual creations made for a purpose. Take Jali walls, for instance—they serve an aesthetic purpose while fulfilling the functional aspects of creating a well-lit and ventilated space. I think aesthetic and functional considerations go hand in hand in designing spaces.
