Once again we're into the penguin-suit season, so I picked up my trusty hired kit again, this time for Motor Sport UK's Night of Champions at London's Royal Automobile Club, where last year's big winners, dozens of them, received the recognition that they deserved. I can honestly say I've never had more fun at such an event.
MSUK is still refining its event, but the progress was obvious. As well as the accolades you would expect (my favourite was 17-year-old British Rallycross champion Patrick O'Donovan, who beat his dad to win), there was a new crop of gongs for racing's legends. Ron Dennis won big respect for a Lifetime Achievement award, while Patrick Head took a new Keith Duckworth award- and spoke fascinatingly of his memories of Keith. Jonathan Palmer took a Prince Michael award for his brilliant revival of Britain's racing circuits, while Martin Brundle was the perfect choice for the new Murray Walker award. It was heartwarming to see how well the legends supported this event and in doing so honoured the heroes of tomorrow.
