THE INMRC NEVER DISAPPOINTS AND THIS round was no exception. The event saw the closest recorded finish in the history of Indian motor sport. Sarthak Chavan of Pune and Jagan Kumar of Chennai (both from TVS Racing) put up a great show in race two of the Pro Stock 130- to 165-cc Open category. Here is what went down.
PRO STOCK 301- TO 400-CC OPEN
Sarthak Chavan took pole position with a time of 1:49.383, just ahead of Chiranth (1:49.426), as the two 17-year-old lads led the front-row sweep for TVS Racing with K Y Ahamed (1:51.032) filling in third.
In the race, Sarthak was in a league of his own, winning with a gap of 6.8 seconds, while also managing to post the fastest lap of the day with a time of 1:50.329. Sarthak was again untouchable in race two with his closest rival and teammate, Chiranth, fading from the contest due to mechanical problems with his bike, finishing a distant seventh. K Y Ahamed and Deepak Ravikumar completed a one-two-three sweep for TVS Racing.
However, Chiranth won the award for clocking the fastest lap on Sunday across all categories with a blisteringly quick time of 1:48.648.
PRO STOCK 130- TO 165-CC OPEN
Chiranth snatched pole position in qualifying, ahead of Sarthak. As always, the duo went head-to-head during the qualifying session and Chiranth ended it with a best lap-time of 1:54.388 while Sarthak could manage a time of 1:54.483, well ahead of his teammate and multiple national champion, Jagan Kumar (1:55.580).
