The Bolognese Raging Bull has unleashed arguably the wildest take yet on its mid-engined V10 supercar: the rugged-looking Huracán Sterrato

LIFTED LAMBO

Just when you were thinking Lamborghini couldn't possibly come up with any more Huracán derivatives, this newcomer is touted as an all-surface supercar that's as competent on gravel roads as it is on tarmac, thereby adding a newfound level of versatility to this package. Limited to only 1 499 units, the Strerrato (meaning "dirt road") will slot in between the Tecnica and STO once local deliveries commence in early 2024. South African pricing for this model is R6 625 000and that's before any personalisation options.

A bespoke suspension setup and all-terrain tyres are a mere starting point to a revamp aimed at attracting a new set of buyers to the Huracán. The Sterrato has arguably only one direct rival - Porsche's 911 Dakar, which is priced from R4 551 000.

Transforming a car conceived to excel on race tracks and winding bitumen roads into a dirt-track hero required a wholesale reengineering job, with the obvious first step being an elevation of the donor car's ground clearance and suspension travel. This was achieved with a bespoke set of springs and dampers all-round, along with unique antiroll bars and reinforced suspension arms with revised geometry. The result is a 44 mm lift, with the car sitting 171 mm above the deck, on par with an average compact crossover.

Apart from added ground clearance, the Sterrato also has more wheel travel than other Huracán derivatives, allowing it to soak up much of the pounding when blasting across uneven surfaces.

The front and rear wheel tracks have been extended by 30 mm and 34 mm, respectively, giving the Sterrato a broader footprint on the road. The wider stance is made more evident by plastic wheel-arch flares that offer some protection from stone chips, bushes and lowhanging branches to the fenders.
