JEHAN DARUVALA OF INDIA WON THE Sprint Race for the Formula 2 championship on Saturday after engaging in a fierce duel for the lead. This was Jehan's second podium finish in Monaco in as many years.
The 24-year-old, who competes for the Dutch team MP Motorsport, crossed the finish-line after Ayumu Iwasa during a race that was stopped by a safety car. After the second safety car period, Daruvala pursued the Japanese competitor for most part of the 30-lap race before being forced to back off because of a reduction in tyre pressure and braking problems. Nevertheless, his tenacious performance was sufficient to secure him his third podium of the year and his 18th victory in Formula 2 overall.

Jehan relentlessly pursued the Japanese racer throughout the 30-lap race, but had to ease off during the final stages owing to tyre pressure drop and brake issues caused during the second safety car period. He expressed his mixed emotions after the race, saying, "To be honest, I have conflicting feelings right now. It's slightly frustrating to come so close to victory, especially here in Monaco, only to miss out at the last moment. However, standing on the podium in this iconic location is always special. So, I'll accept it. I gave my all today, raced cleanly, and managed my strategy effectively. I'm pleased to have achieved this result.'
Daruvala won his second podium in Monaco. He had also been placed second in the Sprint Race at the Monaco round last year.
