THE SKODA KUSHAQ IS A B-SEGMENT compact SUV that is being made in India from 2021 by the Czech carmaker Skoda Auto. According to Sanskrit academics, the name "Kushaq" is derived from the Sanskrit word, kushak, which means "king" or "emperor".
In February 2020, the car was unveiled as the Vision IN Concept. This was part of the "India 2.0 project" by Skoda Auto India's first product, the production model named the Kushaq, which made its introduction on March 18, 2021. The vehicle is constructed on the MQB AO IN platform developed by the Group specifically for the Indian market. To achieve a competitive price point, it is produced at Chakan, Maharashtra, with 95 per cent localised content.
The Skoda Kushaq has been the silent hero for the Skoda India 2.0 project by helping the Czech brand increase its sales month on month at a steady pace.
