VOLKSWAGEN HAVE REVEALED the all-new Tiguan and it marks a rather dramatic departure from the butch and rather bulky design language of its&nbsp;predecessor. For starters, it looks like a Golf GTI that hit the gym for eight hours a day, every day for four years. No surprise considering it is based on the latest evolution of the Modularer Querbaukasten (MQB evo) or Modular Transverse Matrix architecture, which should prove to be a highly innovative technical basis for this third-generation Tiguan.

The IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights, derived from the Touareg and seen on a Tiguan for the first time, appear merged with a glass-covered horizontal stripe across the front. They have 19,200 multipixel LEDs per headlight. The radiator grille openings have also been relocated for optimum air routing. The side profile features a very German flow of lines that fuse creases with curves unlike the seemingly extended flat surfaces before and now has wheel housings to house wheels of up to 20 inches. At the rear is a horizontal LED strip running across the tailgate in between the new taillight clusters.

The cabin has received a fresh new design with a new digital cockpit based on the fourth-gen modular infotainment matrix (MiB4) and a massive 15-inch infotainment screen. In the seating department, there are new "ergoActive" front seats that have pneumatic four-way lumbar adjustment and a pneumatic 10-chamber pressure massage function. It will also get to see an all-new heads-up display for the convenience of the driver, as well as the new DCC Pro adaptive chassis control to optimize comfort and enhance handling dynamics, along with the latest Park Assist generation which automates driving in and out of parking spaces. Additionally, the luggage compartment capacity has increased by 37 litres to 652 litres.

The 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan will be available with a variety of engines, including a slew of 2.0-litre four-cylinder units, across turbo-diesel (TDI), turbo-petrol (TSI), mild-hybrid turbo-petrol (eTSI), and plug-in hybrids (eHybrid) flavours, all of which will only be available paired with automatic transmissions (DSG) in the future.
