After first surfacing in 2019, the Tesla Cybertruck has been delayed many times, but the wait seems like it was worth it, as Tesla has done what they do best and reinvent the wheel (well, almost everything except the wheel). The futuristic stainless steel 'super alloy' bodywork is completely corrosion resistant, according to Tesla. Apparently it can also withstand gunfire from .45 calibre and 9mm firearms (probably a selling point in its home market). The chassis and the steel body gives the Cybertruck a combined torsional rigidity greater than that of the McLaren P1.
There is one wheel Tesla has reinvented, and that’s the steering wheel. Yes, it does feature that ridiculous yoke first seen on the Model S Plaid, but it also features steer-by-wire, doing away with any physical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels.
