<p><strong>M</strong>aruti Suzuki may be late to the EV party, but there&rsquo;s plenty in the works, as evidenced by their 3.0 strategy. Six new EVs are headed our way, to be launched within the next eight years (on or before 2031). The carmaker also stated that its target is to produce 15 lakh electrified vehicles by FY2031. By the end of the 3.0 strategy&rsquo;s timeline, Maruti Suzuki aims to have a total of 28 vehicles in their portfolio, including the aforementioned six EVs. The overall goal includes a production target of 40 lakh vehicles annually by 2031, of which 15 percent (six lakh) vehicles are expected to be BEVs, and about 25 percent (10 lakh) are expected to be hybrids. MSIL&rsquo;s current&nbsp;production capacity is 22.5 lakh units annually.</p>

<p>That still leaves 60 percent remaining of the total 40 lakh vehicles, or roughly 24 lakh vehicles, which Maruti Suzuki says will be pure ICE vehicles.&nbsp;However, that includes vehicles which will run on CNG, biogas, flex fuel, ethanol and blended fuel, other than petrol. Maruti Suzuki phased out all diesel vehicles back in December 2019.</p>
<p>There's still a long way to go before that timeline, but the carmaker has already made strides in the EV game with the Grand Vitara and the Invicto running on petrol-hybrid propulsion. As far as when we can expect Maruti Suzuki's first EV, the production-spec eVX is slated to go on sale by 2025.</p>
